The Currimundi Lake Conservation Park is a scenic place for leisurely walks, though it’s also a top birdwatching destination. It’s also known as the Kathleen McArthur Conservation Park, named after the conservationist who was also a passionate artist who loved to capture wildflowers in her art. Other great activities here are kayaking and bushwalking, and there are several trails to explore the stunning reserve.

Sunshine Coast lakes surely have something for everyone. Head over to the Baroon Pocket Dam; this small lake has a lot to offer for outdoor and recreational activities. There are facilities on-site such as barbecues, a playground, and picnic tables ideal for spending time with the family. Kids can swim in the cool, calm waters or better yet, take a kayak to discover the dam.

Fishing is a popular activity here, and an excellent place for that is Lake MacDonald. The waters are abundant with Saratoga, Mary River Cod, Bass, Perch and more. Birdwatchers also enjoy frequenting this place as there are many bird species that thrive in the area. Families can spend time kayaking on the calm waters but if you prefer to relax, there’s ample space for picnics and strolls. It’s also conveniently located beside the Noosa Botanic Gardens, so you can see these two beautiful places within one day.

Lake Kawana is a picturesque lake that has become a renowned location for outdoor activities and water sports. These include kayaking, dragon boat racing, canoeing, motorised boating, paddling, and more. The man-made lake is also designed with a walking and cycling track. Meanwhile, its main canal has a marina and from here you can book scenic cruises that take you around the waterfront.

Sunshine Coast lakes have a wide array of activities and attractions for visitors.
