A trip to Beerwah would be incomplete without a day spent at Australia Zoo. Renowned as the home of the legendary crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, Australia Zoo is one of the most popular tourist attractions on the Sunshine Coast.

Australia Zoo is jam-packed full of fun and adventures and makes a great day out for the whole family. Go for a walk around Africa and see one of the best open range exhibits in Australia. Hop aboard the free Africa Safari Shuttle and keep your eyes peeled for giraffes, zebra and rhinos. Watch the animals interact as they would in the wild in this open enclosure. Stop off at the world-famous Crocoseum, where you can see how crocodiles live and behave in the wild.

A visit to Beerwah should also include a walking or hiking tour of the Glass House Mountains. The mountain ranges were named by Captain Cook in 1770, who thought these fascinating ranges resembled the glasshouses or glass furnaces back in his native town of Yorkshire.

The national park boasts many extinct volcanoes, with these formations said to be about 25 to 27 million years old. The highest peak of the ranges is Mount Beerwah, which sits at 555m (1,821ft) above sea level. The second highest peak is Mount Coonowrin, followed by Mount Tibrogargan. With such peaks, the Glass House Mountains National Park offers several breathtaking lookouts and walking trails.

Beerwah is also home to a golf club, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and pubs. There is also an extensive range of accommodation options in Beerwah, including motels and private retreats. Click the link below to find the best accommodation deals in Beerwah.
