Stop past Australia Zoo in Beerwah, home to Steve Irwin Crocodile Hunter and one of the most popular tourist attractions on the Sunshine Coast. Australia Zoo is jam-packed full of fun and adventures, including the world-famous Crocoseum, where you can see how crocodiles live and behave in the wild.

Go on a bushwalk or hike at the Glass House Mountains. This national park boasts many extinct volcanoes, with these formations said to be about 25 to 27 million years old. The highest peak of the ranges is Mount Beerwah, which sits at 555m (1,821ft) above sea level. The second highest peak is Mount Coonowrin, followed by Mount Tibrogargan. With such peaks, the Glass House Mountains National Park offers some breathtaking lookouts and walking trails. For those wanting to take a walk through the national park, many well-formed, graded tracks are available.

Other nature parks include Kondalilla National Park and Mapleton Falls National Park. Take a walk around Maleny’s Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and make sure to bring a picnic as there are plenty of facilities located at many of the parks, including BBQ’s, picnic tables and toilet facilities.

Take a scenic drive and stop off at a dairy farm, cheese factory or winery. There are many cafes and restaurants located throughout the hinterland and specialty stores selling unique items. You will also find many markets all over the region on the weekends selling local produce and handmade items.

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, try one of the luxury cottages or retreats within the beautiful landscape. Walk the streets and laneways of the picturesque townships and the local fashion boutiques and art galleries. Go at your own pace and truly relax in this peaceful setting.
