Its origins are similar to the story of Noah’s Ark; the owner, Julie Seabrook, and her team of dedicated zookeepers decided to take care of 200 animals who would have been displaced after Alma Park Zoo had to shut down in 2014 because of a residential development being built in the area. Thanks to her commitment to these animals, she and the keepers put up the zoo in Woombye to take care of them in a new permanent home.

Today, Wildlife HQ is popular for the incredible array of animals and zoo experiences offered. These include South American monkeys, red pandas, koalas, dingos, and so much more. If you’ve always wondered what it’s like to take care of animals, check out the Zoo Keeper For A Day program; available for kids and adults. The package features up-close experiences with around six animals, and these can be customised based on your interests. You’ll also get your very own tour to get to know the animals you’ve selected for your package, and a friendly keeper will tell you everything about these lovely animals.

Many of the animals they take care of are also features in television and film work. They are open to filming at the facility, and in some instances, certain animals can be brought to set locations. One of their most significant achievements was Arlo, a resident koala, featured in an advertisement and helped raise $50,000 for the conservation of koalas.

After your chosen activities, have a meal at the Zoo Café, with endangered Cotton Top Tamarins housed right by the café. They make fresh and delicious wraps, burgers, fruit salads, desserts, milkshakes, and coffee.

Wildlife HQ is an incredible destination you won’t want to miss!
