Woombye is a small residential town in the Sunshine Coast that is famous for one big thing: The Big Pineapple!

Located 100 kilometres north of Brisbane and just 17kms west of Mooloolaba, Woombye is easily accessible by the Bruce Highway.

Come to Woombye and see the most famous attraction on the Sunshine Coast. There are so many things to see and do at the Big Pineapple, with recent renovations adding even more attractions including a boutique zoo that houses native and exotic animals.

Hop on the Pineapple Train which departs every half hour, and enjoys the trip around the Big Pineapple which explores the rainforest, orchids, bamboo forest and passes by the onsite zoo. Get off at Koala Station if you want to visit the zoo where you will see alligators, kangaroos, dingoes, koalas, sun bears, lemurs, wombats as well as a large range of reptiles and birds. Wander through the rainforest paths and discover more about the animals with the free keeper demonstrations which are run daily. Within the zoo, there are complimentary BBQ facilities as well as a cafe which serves cold drinks, ice creams, snacks and souvenirs.

You will also find a market at the Big Pineapple every Saturday from 6.30am until 1pm. Selling a range of local organic fruit and vegetables, potted plants and bric-a-brac, all produce coming from local suppliers. The Big Pineapple also hosts a Bubs & Kids Market which is held (in addition to the farmers market) every second Saturday of the month. Here you can find a huge range of second-hand children’s clothes, shoes and toys. There is also a car boot market which is held on the last Saturday of the month where you can find a range of second-hand goods.

Woombye is also well equipped for residents with a supermarket, clothing stores, a handcrafted cheese store, the Woombye Pub which serves lunch and dinner daily. Woombye also caters to visitors with a range of accommodation options including bed and breakfasts, motels and holiday retreats.
