The Old Woman Ocean Paddle, 2022 Dates, Prices, Course Map, Mooloolaba

The festival takes its name from Old Woman Island, a legendary landmark off the coast. It’s filled with legends and mystery, which is only part of the charm we all know and love about the Sunshine Coast. The primary event is the 18km Old Woman course, which begins at the deep waters by a rock wall in the Mooloolaba River Mouth. This also happens to be a terrific vantage point for visitors and spectators, and from here, paddlers start making their way north, around the island, and then back.

For those interested in joining The Old Woman Paddle but can’t commit to the distance yet, there’s also the Little Woman course, which is just 5km long. Though it isn’t as far, there is also lots of fun to be had on this shorter course. It starts and ends at the same point as well as finishes two loops by Mooloolaba Beach. The minimum age to join the 18km is 16 years old, and 13 years old for the 5km.

This exciting water event invites you to challenge yourself and enjoy friendly competition with other paddlers as you appreciate the ocean during your leg. There are varying entry fees to be applied based on the type of paddle to be used and your distance. The entry fees are inclusive of a t-shirt, race number, and competitors pack. Winners of each category will be given granted thrilling awards and prizes, so stay tuned for that.

Be sure to sign up for the next The Old Woman Paddle or come as a spectator: either way, you won’t regret it!
