Many bird species thrive in the park; common sightings include Magpie Geese, Black Swans, pelicans, Pacific Black Ducks, White Ibis, Hardhead Ducks, Eurasian Coots, and Plumbed Whistling Ducks, among others. Several butterflies and dragonflies can also usually be seen when walking toward the Fearnley Hide. Many visitors also spot kangaroos or tortoises along the foreshore.

One of the best ways to explore Jabiru Park is by paddle boarding. Remember that motorised watercraft are not allowed on Lake Macdonald, but with paddleboarding, you get the best views from the sea while also getting a great core workout. Kayaking and canoeing are recommended too. Visitors are advised to always wear a lifejacket for safety.

Other helpful things to remember for safety during your trip is always to follow the signage because you will find important information on directions. It’s also best to check the weather conditions before you set out. Bring water and sunscreen.

The Noosa Botanic Gardens is adjacent to Lake Macdonald, so be sure to check it out after. It’s home to 8 hectares of lush greenery, including exotic and native plants. This is a scenic place for a picnic or BBQ too. For those who want to spend a few nights in this area, you can camp at Camp Cooroora, located near Mary Cod Park.

For modern conveniences, food, coffee, and supplies, Cooroy is a quick drive away.

Jabiru Park is one of the most beautiful destinations on the Sunshine Coast, so don’t miss out on this place and the nearby attractions.
