What makes this forest so special is the massive expanse of forest and bushland, and there are several trails that you can choose from. The sight of horse riders around the place is quite common. However, seasoned visitors can already make it to Ringtail State Forest to discover even more stunning bushland. It’s truly a magical place for outdoor lovers and anyone who wants to escape the city.

If you want to spend a few days discovering the Yurol State Forest and nearby bushlands, the Pomona Caravan Park and Showgrounds is the ideal place to base yourself in. The Pomona Caravan Park offers caravanning and camping at affordable prices; it’s also pet-friendly. Their facilities include a camp kitchen, hot showers, BBQ facilities, dump points, and much more. Best of all, there’s excellent reception for mobile phones and television.

Pomona is such a lovely country town situated at the base of Mount Cooroora. There are several leisurely walking tracks for visitors to explore. It’s also steeped in history, with the first settlers arriving back in the 1880s. Here, you’ll find the oldest running silent cinema in the world, the Majestic Cinema. It was established in 1921 as Majestic Hall and initially used to host silent movies plus sports events and social gatherings. Today, they still show a range of silent shows and films.

Learn a little about local history by visiting the Noosa Shire Museum while you’re here. It houses a fascinating display of photos and other artefacts, as well as a room dedicated to the Gubbi Gubbi people, who were the original settlers of the area.

The Yurol State Forest and its surrounding tourist sights are a true gem in this corner of Queensland.
