McCarthy’s Lookout is a scenic destination where visitors can soak up the views of the surrounding Glass House Mountains.

Located on Jinibara Country in Maleny, this viewpoint is often overlooked unless you drive over to Maleny, but it’s certainly worth going to on its own.

You’ll find the lookout on Mountain View Road, and the views are nothing short of spectacular. Some of what you can see from here include the majestic Blackall Range, Moreton Bay, and the Glass House Mountains. More information on these sights can be found on the signs found on the left side of the car park area.

It’s named after Joseph McCarthy, a man responsible for farming in the area back in the 1880s. Some of his descendants still live here today. McCarthy’s Lookout has many things to appreciate, but the spacious shelter equipped with picnic tables is the main highlight here. These amenities have been built so that visitors can truly enjoy the views in the comfort of the shade. The picnic area and lookout are also wheelchair-friendly.

After the viewpoint, be sure to spend time seeing what else Maleny has to offer. This charming town is famous for its rustic dairy country vibes peppered with rainforest adventures.
