Cotton Tree Cenotaph

The Cotton Tree Cenotaph is a war memorial located in the park, erected in honour of the 100th anniversary of the culmination of World War I.

It’s the first cenotaph of its kind in the Sunshine Coast.

Cotton Tree Cenotaph, Eternal Flame, War Memorial, Maroochydore QLD

The cenotaph was established in 2018, thanks to efforts of the local council together with Maroochy RSL. The fixture, designed to appear as an eternal flame, marks the moment the guns stopped on the Western Front, and the Armistice was signed on November 11th, 1918.

It also represents the gratitude and acknowledgement for all the sacrifices made by the soldiers who served in the warm. Additionally, the eternal flame symbolises perpetuity and acts as a beacon of light to remember those who have fallen.

After visiting the Cotton Tree Cenotaph, it’s highly recommended to explore the other attractions close by. The Maroochydore Rotary Park is a family-friendly destination, famed for being a scenic BBQ and picnic spot. Visitors can take in gorgeous river views while relaxing in the grassy areas or underneath the trees. Covered picnic tables and shade invite you to dine on a delicious BBQ or even celebrate a special occasion here. The Maroochydore Rotary Park is equipped with a playground for kids.

The rest of the Maroochydore area is worth exploring. This area is famous for its stunning beaches, entertainment, shopping, and recreation. For terrific food, coffee, or drinks, head over to Ocean Street. There are dozens of food options for all sorts of cravings.

Maroochydore Beach is incredibly scenic and is patrolled for safety. It’s an excellent spot for some sunbathing. Seasoned surfers often catch waves here, and they’re thrilling to watch from the shore.
