Maroochydore Beach

Maroochydore Beach is a popular beach area in Queensland. It’s safe for swimming and excellent surfing, with terrific surf breaks just off Alexandra Headland.

The beach is patrolled by one of the oldest lifesaving clubs in the region, the Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club. It was founded on January 1st, 1916; it has a home adjacent to a car park on the main street.

Visitors are always urged to stay in the patrolled areas only since rips are extremely common along the beach.

The waves at Maroochydore Beach are around a metre or less, though you still need to take safety precautions because of rocks and rips that frequent the headland. Avoid the northern end of the beach, where shifting bars and deep tidal channels occur frequently. Strong rips are also permanent along the rocks found in the southern area of Alexandra Headland.

For the best surfing nearby, go to the break just off Alexandra Headland. It features a moderate to high swell and is known for excellent right-handers. Other breaks can also be found leading to the river mouth. Aside from surfers, it’s not uncommon to see people fishing here. The top areas for fishing include the headland and the river mouth; rip holes are also popular for these.

Maroochydore Beach has holiday parks, camping spots, and charming accommodation. Visitors will also love exploring the culinary scene, though the Maroochydore Surf Club is one of the best places to enjoy a meal or a drink. If you are visiting with young children, head over to nearby Cotton Tree, located near the river mouth. This spot is perfect for safe playing and swimming and is surrounded by picturesque parks and picnic areas.

Maroochydore Beach and the many sights in and around town will provide your family with endless memorable activities during your holiday.
