Charles Clarke Park

Charles Clarke Park is a great place to visit in the heart of Mooloolaba, especially if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle.

The park was named after Charles Clarke, who, in 1965, contributed economic improvements to Mooloolaba through his entrepreneurial efforts. He managed the Palmwoods-Buderim tramline, and in 1925, he bought land on the Mooloolaba River banks.

During this time, he opened a café, built the Boondoola boarding house, and several recreational boats. Aside from that, he pioneered private transport, which was greatly needed back in his time. To do this, he bought a Model T Ford truck then outfitted it with a wagon and canvas seats; he then started a daily transport service taking passengers from Buderim to Mooloolaba and Alexandra Headland.

By 1965, the Mooloolaba-Alexandra headland Progress Association decided to name the park after him. Today, it provides the local community and visitors from near and far with a tranquil place to rest by the river. Take the kids and your family for a relaxing getaway near the city. There is a fun playground, public BBQs, tables and seating under the gazebos, and other quality facilities.

For more family-friendly activities, check out the SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium; it’s always a sure hit with the kids. The award-winning destination is ideal for all weathers and seasons, so make sure you carve time out to visit the number 1 destination in Mooloolaba. The SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium is home to spectacular marine life, with thousands of fish living here. These include tropical fish, stingrays, sharks, penguins, and so much more.

Mooloolaba Beach is another terrific destination near Charles Clarke Park. Bring your swimmers and a picnic basket; the clear turquoise waters of the beach are too inviting to resist. It’s also rated as one of the Sunshine Coast’s most beautiful beaches.

Charles Clarke Park and the rest of Mooloolaba have so much to offer visitors of all interests.
