Yaroomba

Yaroomba is a seaside suburb in Queensland, with Point Arkwright on its north, while Mount Coolum is a little past its southern border.

It’s growing to be a popular place to reside in as developments grow.

It was once known as Coronation Beach back in 1953 to pay tribute to the coronation of Queen Elizabeth. But it since changed to its current name in 1961; a name thought to describe the surf’s sound on the beach in the Aboriginal language. Over the last few years, more infrastructure and investment have poured into developing the suburbs, creating jobs, building homes, and making it a world-class destination.

Yaroomba has its stretch of sandy beach, starting at Point Arkwright and heading south for a little over a kilometre. While the beach itself is scenic, it’s not safe enough for swimming because there are permanent rips and strong currents. The safest area to swim is nearby in Marcoola Beach, as it’s patrolled. Alternatively, the Coolum and Twin Waters resorts also have lifeguard stations. Just be sure always to check the waves before you enter. Seasoned surfers can enjoy the breaks located at either end of the beach.

Point Arkwright is known to have some excellent banks too. Surfers can take a boat to the left point break that is located on Mudjimba Island.

In town, there are a handful of coffee shops and restaurants where you can enjoy some refreshments. Birrahl Park is an outdoor recreation space where you can bring the kids along for play, though you can also pack a picnic blanket to relax here.

With all the exciting up-and-coming developments planned for Yaroomba, this is a place you’re going to want to visit time and again.

Be sure to check out the range of accommodation options within the area, including a wide range of holiday houses, hotels, motels, resorts, caravan parks, and apartments.
