Located between Maroochydore and Noosa, Coolum Beach is a favourite weekend getaway and holiday destination for visitors to the Sunshine Coast.

The best way to enjoy a vacation in Coolum is to stay at a resort or caravan park and head straight to the beach. Body-boarding, kayaking and kite-surfing are just a few of the water activities available in the area. For those who are keen to try surfing, there are schools offering basic to more advanced instruction. Another way to enjoy Coolum Beach is to stay dry and paragliding, rock climbing, horse riding or skydiving.

Coolum also offers varying levels of walking, biking and hiking trails. A few kilometres away from the centre of town is Mount Coolum, one of the largest mountains on the Sunshine Coast. Visitors can go on a self-guided tour to see the wetlands and rainforest at the lower slope of Mount Coolum National Park or hike up to the mountain’s summit and be rewarded with 360-degree views of beaches and coastlines. Emu Mountain and some sections of Noosa National Park, in the northern part of Coolum Beach, are also popular areas for walking and biking.

When the weather gets a little hot, and you need to cool down, head to the Aqua Fun Park at Coolum. Aqua Park Coolum is a large inflatable fun park with slides, climbing equipment and trampolines, all set in an artificial freshwater lake. There are picnic facilities and free BBQs on-site for customers use, change rooms and a cafe and kiosk. There are lifeguards on duty supervising play, and children under six must be accompanied by a guardian. This park is first in best dressed and can get very busy during the summer months. Visitors are advised to get there at least one hour before their planned session.
