Imbil

Imbil is a small residential town located within the Mary River Valley in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Located 160kms north of Brisbane and 60kms west of Noosa Heads, Imbil is easily accessible via the National Highway.

Imbil’s extensive hilly terrain features many excellent lookouts. Visitors can get magnificent 360-degree views of several nearby towns, mountains and forests in the hinterland.

Imbil’s pristine Lake Borumba is also a perfect day-trip destination. Visitors can enjoy activities such as boating, swimming, fishing and water-skiing at this lake. The serene setting of Lake Borumba is an approximate 26km round-trip from Imbil.

Many people choose to stay at Imbil due to its proximity to Gympie. Gympie hosts several fun events throughout the year, including the Gympie Gold Rush Festival, the Gympie Show and the Gympie Music Muster.

The Gympie Music Muster has been entertaining locals and visitors to the Sunshine Coast for over 30 years and hosts some of the best entertainers in Australian country music. The festival runs over four days and is held in Amamoor Creek State Forest. Given its proximity to the Amamoor Creek State Forest, Imbil is a great spot to find accommodation for those attending the festival.
