Dicky Beach is a small suburb in Caloundra popular for its relaxed surfer lifestyle and good quality of life.

Over the last few years, it has become the residence of choice among families, older couples, elderly singles, and established families who enjoy the laid-back seaside ambience.

Its most iconic feature is the stretch of pristine white sand that surfers, swimmers, and sunbathers enjoy every day. The beach and the suburb are named after the Steamship SS Dicky, which was brought ashore by a cyclone in 1893 after its crew perished. The authorities decided to keep the wreck on the beach for a few years until it was eventually burnt by a kerosene lamp accident.

Dicky Beach has much to offer visitors, especially if you decide that this may be a good candidate for either a weekend or a permanent home. It’s a well-loved place with a significantly young population who appreciate the numerous amenities that cater to their wide interests, including skating, surfing, playgrounds, schools, and endless sunshine on the beaches.

While here, it’s certainly worthwhile to explore the rest of Caloundra. There’s never-ending beach fun here; head over to Moffat Beach next – a famous surfing spot. Bring a picnic blanket and soak up the sun, or head to one of the specialty coffee shops to enjoy a cuppa, snacks, and refreshment.

Depending on when you visit, you might get lucky enough to experience one of the exciting local festivals. Worry not – there’s always something happening year-round. From artistic and cultural festivals to live music and concerts, the events calendar of Caloundra is always filled with something to look forward to. Aside from that, the shopping scene is terrific too. There’s the Caloundra Twilight Markets, the Currimundi Lake Twilight Markets, and the Caloundra Street Fair.
