This stunning beach in Caloundra is patrolled by the award-winning Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club, so all visitors can have peace of mind when swimming or surfing. Just remember to always swim between the flags for added safety.

It’s especially popular among families with kids because it offers the young ones so much to do to keep them busy. One visit will show you why families love coming here from surfing, swimming, playing in the playground, or practising their tricks at the skatepark. Additionally, it’s a dog-friendly beach, so feel free to take your pups on a walk here.

Families with toddlers should check out Bunbubah Creek by the beach. Here, the little ones can spend hours building sandcastles, and you won’t have to worry about waves washing them away.

Dicky Beach also has some history to it. In 1893, a cyclone washed up the Steamship SS Dicky, which carried 11 crew members and 40 tonnes of sand. Unfortunately, the ship burned down accidentally. Because the wreck’s burnt and sharp edges posed a hazard, it was eventually relocated.

The area also caters to travellers of all budgets, especially when it comes to accommodation choices. The Dicky Beach Holiday Park is one of the better-known affordable options to stay here because it’s beachfront, can accommodate 12 caravan sites and unpowered tents, as well as 12 self-contained motel units. It’s equipped with a swimming pool, camp kitchen, full-sized tennis courts, kids’ playground, laundry facilities, showers, and much more. Aside from that, visitors can opt for high-end, and luxury stays here too.

Dicky Beach and its surroundings have everything a family could want for a memorable getaway.
