La Balsa Park

La Balsa Park is one of the best parks for a relaxing picnic. Located in Buddina on the Sunshine Coast, the park offers ample space for families and friends to unwind.

The park is equipped with a fenced playground so that toddlers and kids can safely run around and play.

It’s also conveniently located right by the Mooloolah River; this is a beautiful spot to watch the boats as you enjoy delicious food cooked on the park’s BBQs. There’s plenty of shade, and everyone can take advantage of fresh air and wide-open spaces.

La Balsa Park is furnished with picnic tables, but they get filled quickly, especially on weekends and holidays. If you can’t get a table, bring along a picnic mat and lay on the grass. Because of its stunning surroundings, the park often gets booked out for weddings and outdoor events. If you’re interested in holding an event here, be sure that you obtain the correct permits.

While here, why not check out the Mooloolah River National Park? This reserve is home to valuable lowland habitats, including open eucalypt woodlands, marvellous rainforests, wallum banksia woodlands, melaleuca forests, and so much more. These beautiful habitats are best explored on foot, so be sure to bring along proper shoes. There are no camping and campfires allowed here, but it makes a terrific day trip in Buddina.

After all, La Balsa Park is right by Mooloohal River – one of the most critical protected lowland areas of the Sunshine Coast. Due to rapid development on the coast, there are very few habitats left, so those remaining areas have such a high conservation value.

For all you nature lovers visiting the Sunshine Coast, you can’t go wrong with La Balsa Park and its surroundings.
