Bullock Creek Conservation Park

Bullock Creek Conservation Park is a beautiful park home to several magnificent trees and terrains.

The park is popular for fun hiking and bushwalking trails.

Bullock Creek Conservation Park, Woodland & Wetland, Donnybrook QLD

The undulating terrain features tall eucalyptus trees, cup gum and pink gum trees, and on the east, native grasses. The eucalypt woodlands are on the park’s western side, where there are thick understories of mixed heath and acacia trees. Thanks to this unique combination of trees, the park allows many small bird species to thrive. These include the red wattlebirds, brown-headed honeyeaters, and grey shrike-thrush.

There are a variety of hikes available here. The Heathland Hike is a 2.9km loop and takes 1.5 hours as you traverse through mallee eucalypt headland rich in banksia, tea tree, acacia, and hakea. The Eucalypt Hike is a 4.3km loop and takes 2 hours; you’ll pass through South Australian blue gum woodland, native grass and rare wallaby grass. This is where you’re most likely to spot kangaroos. The Native Grasses Hike is a 4km loop and takes 2 hours; you will pass thick mallee eucalypt heathland and South Australian blue gum woodlands.

During your visit to the Bullock Creek Conservation Park, you may also see some animal sightings. Western grey kangaroos live around here, and it’s also common to spot the black-faced cuckoo shrike and rainbow bee-eater.

Though the park is popular for some outdoor activities, keep in mind that there are no facilities available. It’s best to bring your own food, water, and supplies. For safety reasons, let someone know where you are and when to expect you back.

Keep in mind that there are specific rules to abide by when visiting the park. Pets are not allowed, and it’s prohibited to feed animals. Heritage and geological sites should be respected, and plants should not be taken.

The Bullock Creek Conservation Park is an essential ecological destination and one that allows you to get close to nature for as long as the rules are respected.
