Australian Narrow Gauge Railway Museum Society

The Australian Narrow Gauge Railway Museum Society was established in January 1971 by a group of locomotive enthusiasts.

They were armed with a mission to preserve a collection of railways and rolling stock used on the Queensland sugar mill tramways.

Since its founding, the Society has accumulated an impressive collection of rail equipment, including gauge steam, petrol and diesel locomotives, rolling stock, and some line cars. Several of these were acquired in Queensland and New South Wales, but some items in the collection come from France and England.

The Australian Narrow Gauge Railway Museum Society has this equipment on display, and it can be well appreciated by anyone passionate about locomotives, especially rare and historical ones. The Society also established the Durundur Railway located at Woodford, Queensland, where visitors can see the fascinating track materials and workshop equipment they have purchased over time. The operating heritage railway was put up, and a static museum showcasing unique and historic locomotives and ancillary tools that future generations will love.

If you are looking for a unique addition for your wedding, why not charter their steam-powered train? The train can transport you as a bridal car, as well as your guests. Get in touch with them to charter the train for other kinds of special events.

The Australian Narrow Gauge Railway Museum Society is recommended for all ages. This one-of-a-kind and intriguing display will take you back in time, and you’ll leave learning a thing or two about Australian locomotive history.
