Booroobin

Boorobin is a small township between the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay Region, just 42 km away from Caloundra and 11km from Maleny.

With just a few hundred people living here, it’s one of the more isolated and remote destinations. However, there’s lots of nature and wildlife to be found here.

Obi Obi Creek is a major highlight of this area, which is fantastic for bushwalking. The 3-mile walk is suitable for walkers of all skills and ages, though it can also be used for running and cycling. It takes just 2 hours to complete the entire loop.

From Booroobin, visitors can easily access the sights in Maleny. This quaint town is famed for its picture-perfect country scenes, peppered with rainforest and lush greens. Not to be missed while here is the magnificent Baroon Pocket Dam, where a stunning lake and amazing outdoor activities await you. The dam and its surroundings have more than enough sights to explore for day-trippers. The facilities include picnic tables, a playground, and BBQs, though the lake is also suitable for kayaking and fishing for Australian Bass.

Another fantastic destination is the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, home to 55 acres of lush subtropical rainforests with views of the Glass House Mountains. It is considered by many an important living museum that serves as a habitat for flora and fauna. Bring a camera along because you’ll be sure to see some of the most beautiful trees, plants, and flowers here. The reserve is a popular bushwalking destination; there are many well-established boardwalks, walking tracks, and lookouts for you to soak up all that natural beauty. Additionally, there are picnic tables around the reserve where you can chill out with food and drink during your break.

Booroobin is a great place to start exploring many of the wonders of this region. Make sure you research the range of accommodation nearby, including several holiday houses, hotels, caravan parks, bed and breakfasts, cottages and retreats.
