Point Glorious Lookout

Point Glorious Lookout is a stunning viewpoint in Mapleton National Park.

To get here, visitors will need to get up the rough roads on an unsealed road. Though it’s best done in a 4WD (but 2WD cars can still get up there), others quite enjoy the scenic bushwalk and trek to reach the top.

Once you get to the top, you’ll be rewarded with incredible panoramic views of the hinterland and coast. Bring some drinks and picnic snacks along because it’s a beautiful location for afternoon lunch. The lookout is well-maintained and made from wood with rails for safety. However, there are no tables or toilets, so it’s best to pack some foldable chairs. While many tourists love visiting for the afternoon, it’s particularly scenic during the sunset as well.

Point Glorious Lookout is one of the highlights of visiting the Mapleton National Park, which makes up just a section of forests and other parks that help protect the wildlife and plant life in the Blackall Range. Here you’ll find several creeks, outcrops, mountain views, piccabeen palm groves, and scribbly gum forest, among other beautiful terrains that make for a truly picturesque bushwalk. Adventure lovers will be thrilled at the abseiling and climbing opportunities here too.

The Piccabeen Circuit is a popular trail for horse riding, cycling, and walking. It’s 6.7 km in length and will take you through lush Piccabeen palms, creek beds, and much more. During your visit, you may get to see or hear one of the many different frog or bird species that thrive within the park. If you’d like to stay a night or more, park yourselves at the Belli Creek Park campgrounds.

Point Glorious Lookout is one of many terrific destinations in the area that are worth visiting.
