Maloja Jetty

Maloja Jetty is one of the primary tourist ports in Caloundra. This is where most of the popular cruise and boat activities depart from.

Located at Tripcony Lane, it features a single land concrete boat ramp within the Pumicestone Passage.

The ramp got upgrades back in 2015, so visitors are now enjoying improved amenities. It also includes five boat trailer car parks, as well as a watered fish cleaning station. Many locals and visitors enjoy this area because it’s a great place to fish, though it can get busy during peak periods with travellers waiting to get on tour boats and boating activities.

Maloja Jetty is a top destination for water activities, but there’s much more to this area to appreciate. The nearby Bulcock Beach is a favourite spot for families, as well as for destination weddings. If you are travelling with kids, visit during low tide as there are warm wading pools where the children can spend hours splashing about. You can also go on the boardwalk to explore most of the coastline while enjoying a view of the exquisite blue waters leading into the Pumicestone Passage.

Just across the road is a vibrant strip of charming restaurants and cafes. Avid surfers also frequent the area for its surf break. However, keep in mind that Bulcock Beach is only patrolled from September through May. For alternative outdoor activities with the young ones, head over to Happy Valley’s grassy park, suitable for ball games, frisbee, and other sports.

Pumicestone Passage is one of the most pristine bodies of water on the Sunshine Coast. The 35-kilometre long channel extends from the top of Bribie Island to Deception Bay. The passage is mostly shallow and made up of sandbanks and tidal channels that are excellent for kayaking, canoeing, paddling, jet-skiing, and more.

Maloja Jetty and the surrounding areas are sun-drenched destinations home to lots of adventures for families.
