Isaac Moore Park

Isaac Moore Park in Kenilworth is a beautiful outdoor setting that’s great for a day of picnics and fun in the sun.

Though many visitors stop by for a quick rest from being on the road, the wide-open spaces make it worth spending a few hours with your family and friends.

The park has a shaded picnic area and electric BBQs for the public to use. A paved path allows access for the disabled, and visitors can spread picnic mats on the grass if you want to stay under the sun. However, a major highlight of the park is its iconic designer dunny. The dunny was the result of a competition in 2016 that attracted some 200 local and international entries; it was finally awarded to Michael Lennie, an architectural illustrator from the Sunshine Coast.

Lennie says that his design was inspired by Aboriginal fishing baskets, which he had seen in museums in the past. The result is a toilet raised 4 metres high to enjoy the views of Isaac Moore Park and the Mary Valley. The park also has a map of attractions to explore in the hinterland.

While in Kenilworth, why not check out the other destinations in town? Though small and rural, it’s filled with charming boutiques, cafes, and restaurants that anyone looking for a laid-back holiday will love. The Kenilworth Country Food and Cheese Factory are worth visiting, especially if you love cheese, ice cream, and yogurt.

Outdoor enthusiasts would enjoy camping by Gheerulla Creek and discovering the majestic rock formations within the Gherulla State Forest. It’s also popular for trail biking, bushwalking, and swimming.

Isaac Moore Park and the many other delightful attractions in Kenilworth make it a well-loved family holiday destination.
