Coulsons Wharf Park, Maroochy River Kayaking Location, Yandina QLD

The North Maroochy River is famous for its excellent kayaking, and you can start your adventure right by the wharf. Prepare for breathtaking sights on your kayak or canoe as you explore the lengths of the river. Fishing is a popular pastime since the river is home to a thriving wild bass population and mangrove jack in the warmer months. Before you plan your fishing trip, keep in mind that from June 1st to August 31st, the fishing season for bass is closed to allow the fish to breed.

The Maroochy River Canoe Trail, which starts at the Wharf Road in Yandina, passes through Coulsons Wharf Park, Ashtons Wharf Road, Dunethin Rock, Muller Park, and finally culminates at Maroochydore, is a thrilling adventure for seasoned canoers. This picturesque tidal estuary trail is 28 km long though shorter options are available too. You’ll pass through numerous historic and scenic places along the way.

While in Yandina, there are so many other exciting activities and destinations to discover. The town centre is a historical landmark, as it was the settlement for the Gubbi Gubbi people, followed by the first Europeans who arrived here in 1853. Numerous heritage buildings have remained in the town centre, the most famous of which is the Yandina Hotel – the oldest pub on the Sunshine Coast.

The Ginger Factory is an iconic tourist attraction in Yandina, too. Famed for its Buderim Ginger, the park is filled with activities for all ages, including great shopping, a lovely café, educational tours, rides for kids, walking paths through sub-tropical gardens, and much more.

The Coulsons Wharf Park in Yandina and the many sights in town are a great way to spend a holiday with the entire family.
