Alex Community Garden

The Alex Community Garden is an important community garden founded by Costa Georgiadis in 2015.

Located in Nelson park in Alexandra Headland, the garden’s establishment required three years of fundraising and planning, and today has become a vital source of affordable produce for the community.

Georgiadis and the Alexandra Headland Community AssociationAlexandra Headland Community Association worked hard together to see the garden project to fruition. With around half of the residents of Alexandra Headland living in apartments, the garden has allowed everyone to share their gardening skills to grow and share the produce collectively.

Sharing is encouraged since, unlike other community gardens, this one doesn’t rent out individual beds.

Aside from sharing produce, the Alex Community Garden has fostered friendships throughout the years. Everyone is welcome: whether you’re a first-time gardener or not, feel free to visit, learn, and have fun with all.

Since the beds are located above ground, it has become accessible to everyone including the elderly and kids.

The community meets at 10am on every last Saturday of the month. These meetings are informal, and all are welcome to join. Come and meet new friends as you explore the stunning variety of produce, all freshly grown locally by wonderful people!
