Mooloolah

Mooloolah is referred to as Mooloolah Valley to distinguish it from the nearby Mooloolaba and is located in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, just 20kms west of Caloundra.

Bordering on the Ewen Maddock Dam, many natural attractions and water activities are to be enjoyed in and around Mooloolah.

Visitors to Mooloolah often stop by the Ewen Maddock Dam for a day in the outdoors with friends and family. Along with boating and fishing, the multi-use trails are very popular, accommodating walkers, horse and bike riders.

Maddock Park (located off Mooloolah Connection Road) is a popular picnic spot that has picnic tables, free BBQ’s as well as a designated swimming area with a beach. Maddock Park also has a playground for children, which will keep them amused for hours. Paddling is a popular activity on the dam; however, please note that only non-motorised craft is permitted. Visitors are also allowed to fish in the dam, and you are allowed to fish from your non-motorised boat or the platform at Maddock Park. A fishing permit is not required.

Horse riding is also a popular activity within Mooloolah. Over 9km of multi-use trails are shared between walkers, bike riders and horse riders around the Ewen Maddock Dam, or riders can take a trek to an old unused railway tunnel or climb to the mountain tops to explore the bushland.

Mooloolah is also well equipped with public transport, including a train station and bus services. You will also find several shops and restaurants here as well as a supermarket.
