Knitfest is an exciting arts festival focusing on yarn and fibre.
Every winter, it takes place for two days in Maleny, providing the local community and visitors with the unique opportunity to witness how the town centre transforms into a hot spot of yarnbombing and art.
Knitfest, Yarn & Fibre Arts Festival, 2022 Dates, Workshops, Maleny QLD
Each year, the organisers arrange for a theme reflected in the type of designs you’ll see during the festival. The main street of town is filled with art, yarn, music, craft markets, workshops, trade stalls, and many other thrilling activities for the whole family to enjoy together. Best of all, you’ll get a chance to discover new talents and meet other people who specialise in creative works using fibre, such as knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, felting, and much more.
Knitfest isn’t just for seasoned knitters. This is a terrific opportunity to pick up and learn a new talent. Workshops for beginners will also be available, and you’ll also be able to shop for supplies. Aside from that, there will also be competitions to look out for, especially those for art associations, community groups, and local artisans. A free yarn-bombed bus will be provided so that visitors will have easy access up and down the entire festival area.
The event is disability and wheelchair friendly, but do reach out to the organisers ahead of time if you require assistance. Dogs are not allowed since most of the activities are held in government-owned buildings. There will also be toilets, first aid, parking, and several food stalls all around the precinct.
If you love knitting, fibre arts, and crafts, the Knitfest at the Maleny town centre is a festival you won’t want to miss.
