Landsborough

The Sunshine Coast Hinterland also houses the small township of Landsborough, which is nestled towards the northern end of the Glass House Mountains.

This small township is approximately 80 km from Brisbane and has grown over the years to be a popular tourist destination as it is often regarded as the gateway to the hinterland Tourist Trail.

Landsborough is a historic town as it played a large part in the famous Gympie gold exploration during the mid-1860s. Visitors can explore some of this history at the Landsborough Museum, where you will be able to see local artefacts and historical exhibits.

Visitors often stay at Landsborough because of its proximity to a range of attractions. Ewen Maddock Dam is a popular recreation destination for locals and visitors to the Sunshine Coast. Along with boating and fishing, the multi-use trails are very popular, accommodating walkers, horse and bike riders.

Landsborough is also within short driving distance to the Glass House Mountains. This national park boasts many extinct volcanoes, with these formations said to be about 25 to 27 million years old. The highest peak of the ranges is Mount Beerwah, which sits at 555m (1,821ft) above sea level. The second highest peak is Mount Coonowrin, followed by Mount Tibrogargan. With such peaks, the Glass House Mountains National Park offers some breathtaking lookouts and walking trails.
