Cooran is a quiet farming suburb which is located on the northern edges of the Sunshine Coast, approximately 35kms north-west of Noosa.
Cooran is easily accessible via the Bruce Highway and visitors will immediately notice Mount Cooroora which is the tallest peak in this area.

Cooran is not known as a tourist spot, but is a quiet place for residents as it has a general store and a few shops within its precincts. Cooran is also home to a primary school, parklands and is serviced by train and bus services.
Cooran borders the Tuchekoi National Park which is home to Mount Cooroora. This 439 metre mountain challenges runners at the annual Pomona King of the Mountain race which challenges competitors to run up the face of Mt. Cooroora. The festival program also includes a 3km Family Fun Run, 2.1km Pram Push, Primary School Relay, Tug-O-War and Mountain Dash. There is also a skate park competitions, music jam sessions, live music, buskers, rides and side show alley.
Trails around the base of the mountain provide opportunities for hiking as well as horse and mountain bike riding, so visitors coming to Cooran should check out tours available in this area.
